Replay: Donald J. Robertson shares Five Things He's Learned about Ancient Wisdom for Modern Anxiety
Check out the first five minutes of his recent class.
“As I encountered more and more accounts of the psychological techniques used by great thinkers like Socrates and the Stoics to manage anxiety and build emotional resilience, I began to wonder: Could it be that the key to coping with our modern worries lies in the wisdom of ancient Stoic philosophy? I started using these techniques for myself and later taught them to my psychotherapy clients. Now, I want to share some of the most useful practices I’ve learned with you.”
– Donald J. Robertson, Five Things I’ve Learned about Ancient Wisdom for Modern Anxiety
Last week, writer, trainer, life coach, and former cognitive-behavioural psychotherapist Donald J. Robertson joined Five Things I've Learned to share all he’s learned from the wisdom of the ancient Stoics about coping with anxiety and developing emotional resilience.
In Five Things I’ve Learned about Ancient Wisdom for Modern Anxiety, Donald shares powerful techniques drawn from ancient Stoic philosophy and modern cognitive-behavioral therapy to help you cope with anxiety. He talks about different methods for shifting your perspective, preparing for adversity, and stepping back from anxious thoughts so you can respond with greater clarity and emotional resilience.
Rather than a history or philosophy lecture, the session focuses on applying these ideas directly to your everyday life. You’ll learn how to strengthen your character, make wiser decisions under pressure, and develop steady habits that support calm and confidence, all while gaining tools you can use immediately to manage modern anxiety.
